MAN members had a meeting today with the representatives of the OSCE/ODIHR mission who came to the Republic of Moldova to assess the situation before the general local elections on November 5, 2023, an election that represents a crucial moment for the consolidation of democracy and for ensuring the active participation of citizens in the decision-making process.
During the discussions, MAN’s position regarding the current situation was presented and the importance of ensuring a fair, transparent and free electoral process in the Republic of Moldova was discussed, for which the MAN team is advocating.
At the same time, the representatives of the mission were made aware of some deviations that are already taking place in relation to several mayors in the country, about unfair processes towards some local public administrations, but also about electoral activities already carried out by the representatives of a party. I have presented the evidence and steps forwarded by MAN to the CEC in this regard.
MAN reiterated the position regarding the importance and necessity of conducting the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission in the local elections of November 5, 2023.
